About UsWHAT IS THE ORDER OF ST. LUKE THE PHYSICIAN? The International Order of St. Luke the Physician (OSL) is an ecumenical organization dedicated to the Christian healing ministry. The Order of St. Luke has members throughout North America and the world. Members believe healing to be an essential part of the teaching and practice of Our Lord Jesus Christ as set forth in the Gospels and in the Acts of the Apostles. Members desire to bring back this teaching to its rightful place within the Christian Church, through constructive teaching and through cooperation with those clergy, physicians and psychologists who have discovered in the Divine Being the Source and Secret of Wholeness. OSL welcomes inquiries about the healing ministry. For more information, call or write: Order of St. Luke phone (210) 492-5222
The motto is in Latin: JESU ESTO MIHI JESUS - DUX - LUX - REX - LEX Roughly translated this means: "O Jesus, be to me my Savior (Healer), my Leader, my Light, my King, and my Law." Life's greatest adventure awaits you when Jesus Christ becomes your Leader, Light, King, Law, and Savior-Healer. According to tradition, this cross was found in the catacombs of Domitillain Rome during the second century. It is the prayer of a Roman nobleman. The story is that this Roman officer lost his wife who had been the guide and inspiration of his life. He felt the light of his life had been extinguished. Restless and distraught, he wandered this way and that. Then he heard the Glad Tidings of the Christian Gospel and found in the catacombs this prayer inscribed on the wall. He accepted Christ and made the prayer the Rule of his life. The light of Christ shone into his life with healing and integration. He lived a long and useful life thereafter.
You are cordially invited to attend our chapter meetings. We meet at St. Albans Church, next to the National Cathedral, on the second Sunday of each month, September through June, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. At our meetings, we plan for chapter activities, discuss conferences and workshops that members have attended, share news about upcoming workshops and conferences, have guest speakers, and discuss books we are studying together. We regularly pray for each other. The chapter will provide speakers to groups interested in the healing ministry, training for healing ministers, and leaders for healing services and visitations. We can also assist you to begin a healing prayer ministry at your church. For more information about our Chapter, call Paul Rae at (703) 971-7984, or e-mail to TheRaes@cox.net. |
